Rox Motor -- a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker potentially better known overseas than domestically -- has launched a new model to accelerate its growth.
The company officially rolled out the Rox Adamas at an event today as the successor to its first model, the Rox 01 SUV (sport utility vehicle), with a discounted starting price of RMB 334,900 ($47,800).
Adamas -- Greek for "unconquerable" -- symbolizes Rox Motor's ambitious vision for this extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), which was previously released in Middle Eastern markets.
Rox Motor, a relatively little-known Chinese EV brand established in January 2021, launched the Rox 01 on August 22, 2023.
The Rox 01, an EREV previously priced starting at RMB 299,900 in China, aims to compete with Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L8.
Since its inception, Rox Motor has prioritized overseas markets, differing from other Chinese EV makers.
The company has expanded its footprint to over 40 countries and regions in less than two years, capturing a 10 percent share of the luxury all-terrain segment priced above $80,000 in the UAE, Rox Motor said today.
The Rox Adamas retains the exterior design of the Rox 01 and offers both six-seat (2+2+2) and seven-seat (2+2+3) configurations, with a curb weight of 2,715 kilograms.
The seven-seat variant carries an official starting price of RMB 349,900, while the six-seat version is priced at RMB 359,900. After limited-time discounts, these prices drop to RMB 334,900 and RMB 344,900 respectively.
The Rox Adamas measures 5,050 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width, and 1,856 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,010 mm. Compared to the Rox 01, it features slight adjustments in width and height.
It is equipped with a 1.5T engine as a range extender and features a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system delivering 350 kW of power and 740 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
The Rox Adamas comes standard with a 44.5-kWh ternary lithium battery pack from CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750), offering a CLTC range of 215 kilometers.
With a full tank and fully charged battery, its CLTC combined range reaches 1,405 kilometers.
Rox Motor delivered 1,452 vehicles in November, a 1.82 percent increase from October's 1,426 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The company said today that it expects full-year 2025 deliveries to exceed 15,000 units, with a target of 30,000 global sales in 2026.
