The battery giant's Jianxiawo lithium mine in Yichun, Jiangxi, is expected to resume production around the Chinese New Year in February, local media outlet Jiemian reported today, citing sources close to CATL.
The 2026 Chinese New Year falls on February 17, with the holiday period running from February 15 to 23.

CATL said at the time that it was actively processing the permit renewal application.
Late last month, Bloomberg reported that CATL had developed preliminary plans to restart the Jianxiawo mine by early December.
CATL had instructed suppliers and partners to prepare equipment, chemicals, and personnel, and has notified refineries sourcing materials from the mine, Bloomberg reported on November 21, citing sources.
Last month, Jiangxi's natural resources management authorities publicly disclosed documents including the revenue assessment report for the Jianxiawo lithium mine mining rights transfer.
On December 19, Yichun released the first environmental impact assessment information disclosure for the project, the Jiemian report noted.
Lithium is one of the key raw materials for batteries, which typically account for a significant portion of the cost in an electric vehicle (EV) model.
Lithium carbonate and iron phosphate are the primary raw materials for lithium iron phosphate (LFP). Yichun, located in Jiangxi province, is a lithium production hub often referred to as the "Lithium Capital of Asia."
Over recent months, lithium prices have rebounded, gradually impacting battery costs.
Chinese battery startup Suzhou Deegares Energy Technology raised battery product prices by 15 percent starting December 16, becoming the first Chinese battery manufacturer to publicly announce a price hike this year.
