BYD's European registrations jump 221.8% in Nov, while Tesla slips 11.8%

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) maintained robust sales growth in Europe during November, while Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) continued its decline.

BYD's new vehicle registrations in Europe reached 21,133 units last month, a 221.8 percent increase from 6,568 units in the same period last year, according to data released today by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

The data covers the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (EU + EFTA + UK).

Tesla's new vehicle registrations in Europe for November totaled 22,801 units, down 11.8 percent from 25,840 units in the same period last year.

Within the EU, BYD registered 16,158 vehicles in November, a 235.2 percent increase from 4,821 units in the same period last year.

Tesla registered 12,130 vehicles in the EU in November, a 34.2 percent decline from 18,430 units in the same period last year.

From January to November, BYD's new vehicle registrations in Europe totaled 159,869 units, a 276.0 percent increase from 42,517 units during the same period last year.

Tesla's new vehicle registrations in Europe for the first 11 months were 203,382 units, a 28.0 percent decrease from 282,335 units during the same period last year.

Within the EU, BYD's new vehicle registrations from January to November reached 110,715 units, a 240.0 percent increase compared to 32,562 units during the same period last year.

Tesla's new vehicle registrations in the EU from January to November totaled 129,024 units, a 38.8 percent decrease compared to 210,869 units during the same period last year.

The BYD Yuan Up DM-i, rebranded as Atto 2 DM-i in Europe, is the first PHEV model in the Yuan family and is unavailable in China.
