The Mona M03 -- Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) main seller -- appears poised for a refresh with anticipated range enhancements.

The updated electric sedan will offer battery packs with capacities of 51.8-kWh, 61.6-kWh, and 62.2-kWh, delivering a range of up to 640 kilometers, according to a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) document released last week.

The Mona M03 -- currently the sole model in Xpeng's Mona series -- was launched in China on August 27, 2024.

Currently, the model offers four variants with either a 51.8-kWh or 62.2-kWh battery pack, delivering CLTC ranges between 515 and 620 kilometers.

With the same 62.2-kWh battery capacity, the updated Mona M03 gains an additional 20 kilometers of range.

The Mona M03 starts at RMB 119,800 ($17,020), roughly half the price of Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 in China.

This competitive pricing has made the model Xpeng's best-selling vehicle, consistently contributing significant volume.

The Mona M03 delivered 14,886 units in November, marking its 15th consecutive month exceeding 10,000 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Beyond the updated Mona M03, the latest regulatory filings indicate that the battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of Xpeng's X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) will also receive an update.

The updated X9 BEV features a 110-kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 710-750 kilometers.

This marks Xpeng's second localized production project in Asia-Pacific and third globally, with mass production slated for 2026.
