CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750) has signed a long-term agreement with Voyah, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under Dongfeng Motor (HKG: 0489), to consolidate the battery giant's leadership position.

The two companies signed a 10-year deepened cooperation agreement on December 17 in Ningde, Fujian -- CATL's headquarters city, according to a statement released by the battery maker today.

CATL chairman and CEO Robin Zeng, Dongfeng general manager Feng Changjun, and Voyah chairman Lu Fang witnessed the signing.

CATL will prioritize supplying Voyah with its leading battery technologies, facilitating the integration of its Qilin Battery, Freevoy Battery, and Shenxing Battery into Voyah models.

They will also collaborate on battery swap systems, CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis (CIIC) skateboard platform, Bedrock Chassis, and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technologies.

CATL will establish battery production capacity near Voyah's manufacturing facilities to ensure stable, reliable supply as the EV maker scales production and competes in the market.

Both parties will also advance brand innovation and overseas market expansion, jointly enhancing their brand influence and competitiveness in the global premium NEV market.

CATL and Voyah have maintained close collaboration since 2021, when Voyah delivered its first mass-produced vehicle, establishing a battery supply and R&D partnership.

In 2023, they signed a strategic agreement to cooperate on fast charging, battery safety, and big data. CATL is now the core battery supplier for Voyah's entire model lineup.

The latest collaboration will further solidify CATL's position as the world's largest power battery supplier.

The company installed 355.2 GWh of EV batteries from January to October, maintaining its global leadership with a 38.1 percent market share, according to South Korean market research firm SNE Research. It remains the only battery supplier worldwide with a market share exceeding 30 percent.

Voyah's gross margin rose to 21.3 percent in January-July and has expanded into 39 overseas markets.
