Launching limited editions for its models appears to have become routine for Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866).
Onvo, a sub-brand of the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, announced today that it will roll out a purple variant of its L60 mid-size electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) on Thursday, December 18, limited to 666 units.
The L60 Violet Edition show cars are already available at Onvo stores, with deliveries commencing upon launch, the company said.
This marks the latest limited-edition model from Onvo and Nio Inc, aiming to leverage the move to expand marketing at lower costs and boost brand visibility.

The five-seat L60 SUV is Onvo's inaugural model, officially launched on September 19, 2024.
On September 19 this year, Onvo launched the updated L60 model to mark its one-year anniversary, maintaining the same starting price of RMB 206,900 ($29,380) including the battery pack.
Twelve days prior, on December 5, Onvo launched the L60 Black Knight Edition, limited to 666 units. Its starting price, including the battery pack, is RMB 211,900, which is 2.42 percent higher than the base model.
The L60 Black Knight Edition remains available, according to information on the Onvo App.
Onvo's mainstay model is the L90 large SUV, which was launched on July 31 and began deliveries on August 1.
On November 21, Onvo launched the L90 Black Knight Edition at the opening day of the 2025 Guangzhou auto show, limited to 999 units.
Just yesterday, the Nio main brand launched the Far Sky Edition for the ET5 and ET5 Touring, featuring an exclusive purple exterior package limited to 555 units.
Earlier this year, the Nio main brand also launched Champion Edition and Black Theme Edition for select models, while its Firefly sub-brand rolled out limited editions including the Nomadic Maillard and Night Creature editions.
