Ford (NYSE: F) will launch the new electric Bronco in China on December 19, about one month after commencing pre-sales for the SUV (sport utility vehicle) model.
The company announced the plan today, saying deliveries of the electric Bronco will commence at launch.
The model is an SUV developed by Ford China specifically for the Chinese off-road market, manufactured at the plant of its Chinese partner, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC).
Pre-sales for the electric Bronco commenced in China on November 18, offering five variants including extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options.
Three EREV variants start at RMB 229,800 ($32,610), RMB 249,800, and RMB 272,800. The two BEV variants start at RMB 259,800 and RMB 282,800.
On December 11, Ford witnessed the first production electric Bronco roll off the assembly line at JMC's Nanchang, Jiangxi factory -- marking the plant's 200,000th production vehicle.
The electric Bronco measures 5,025 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
Its EREV variants feature a 1.5L turbocharged engine serving as an extended-range generator, delivering a maximum power output of 110 kW. It employs dual electric motors: the front motor peaks at 130 kW, while the rear motor reaches 180 kW.
The EREV variants carry a 43.7-kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 220 km on battery alone. With a full tank and fully charged battery, the combined range reaches 1,220 km.
The BEV versions utilize a front motor with 130 kW peak power and a rear motor producing 202 kW peak power. It features a 105.4 kWh battery pack, achieving a CLTC range of 650 km.
Notably, the electric Bronco adopts a unibody design, prioritizing urban use.
