Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866) will introduce new limited-edition models for its ET5 electric sedan and ET5 Touring wagon next Tuesday to boost sales amid overall market weakness heading into year-end.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker announced today via its mobile app that it will launch limited-edition versions of the ET5 and ET5 Touring on December 16, featuring an exclusive purple exterior package.
Nio did not provide further details about the new limited-edition models but shared several images.
The company launched the facelifted ET5 and ET5 Touring on May 25, maintaining the starting price of RMB 298,000 ($42,240) including the battery pack.
Nio has released limited editions for these two models several times in the second half of this year.
On July 4, the company launched the Champion Edition variants for the ET5, ET5 Touring, and EC6 coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle), each priced higher than their standard counterparts.
On October 17, Nio rolled out a black-themed ET5 Touring inspired by the sci-fi film Tron: Ares, limited to 555 units.
Earlier this week, a regulatory filing revealed Nio had registered new Clean Parks Edition variants for both the ET5 and ET5 Touring.
Clean Parks is an environmental initiative announced by Nio during the ET5 launch at Nio Day 2021 on December 18, 2021.
The ET5 and ET5 Touring rank among Nio's most significant models.
From January to November, the ET5 Touring delivered 43,006 units, accounting for 15.48 percent of Nio Inc's total deliveries during that period, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The ET5 delivered 15,116 units in the first 11 months, contributing 5.44 percent to the company's total deliveries over the same period.
