BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has filed for the new Qin Max pure electric sedan as the latest addition to its bestselling Qin family.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of vehicles awaiting market approval for public comment, which includes the Qin Max.

Public feedback can be submitted between December 6 and 12. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a vehicle model can be approved for sale in China.

The Qin Max occupies three pages in the catalog, all single-motor variants. Two models feature a 120-kW motor, while the third offers a 240-kW motor.

The Qin Max measures 4,866 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

Its curb weight is 1,670/1,795 kg, and it supports a maximum speed of 190 km/h.

The model is equipped with batteries from BYD's battery manufacturing division, FinDreams Battery, though capacity details remain undisclosed.

The Qin family currently offers the hybrid Qin L DM-i and Qin Plus DM-i, alongside the pure-electric Qin L EV and Qin Plus EV, targeting the market segment around RMB 100,000 ($14,140).

The Qin family models sold 70,824 units in November, maintaining their position as BYD's best-selling lineup, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
