SAIC Motor's (SHA: 600104) electric vehicle (EV) unit IM Motors recently launched the LS6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in New Zealand, where it has been rebranded as the IM6.
Deliveries of the model in New Zealand will commence in December, marking IM Motors' latest effort in the premium EV market in Oceania following its entry into Australia, the EV maker announced today.
IM Motors offers three variants of the right-hand-drive IM6 in New Zealand: Premium, Platinum, and a Performance AWD version, priced starting at NZ$66,900 ($37,490), NZ$77,990, and NZ$89,990 respectively.
The Premium variant features a rear motor with 217 kW peak power and 450 Nm peak torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
The Platinum variant employs a more powerful motor delivering 300 kW peak power and 500 Nm peak torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive Performance variant adds a front motor, delivering a combined peak power of 572 kW and peak torque of 800 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
IM Motors offers two battery pack options for the model: 75 kWh and 100 kWh, with WLTP ranges of 450 km, 555 km, and 505 km respectively.
The LS6 was initially launched in China on October 12, 2023, and received its first update on September 26, 2024. Previously, only battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants were available. The Chinese market version features left-hand drive.
On September 10 this year, IM Motors officially launched the updated LS6, adding extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants beyond the BEV options.
The new LS6 is the first model to feature IM Motors' Hengxing EREV system, equipped with a larger Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery supplied by CATL (SHE: 300750).
Currently, the LS6 offers five BEV variants and four EREV variants in China, with starting prices ranging from RMB 197,900 ($27,850) to RMB 291,900.
