Pony AI (NASDAQ: PONY, HKG: 2026) has launched a new generation of lower-cost autonomous truck products, following the deployment of its seventh-generation robotaxi earlier this month.

The Chinese autonomous driving startup announced today the launch of its fourth-generation (Gen-4) autonomous truck product line, jointly developed with Sany Truck and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor.

The fourth-generation autonomous truck system will utilize 100 percent automotive-grade components, reducing the bill of materials (BOM) cost per vehicle by about 70 percent compared to the previous generation, Pony AI said.

The system extensively incorporates components from the latest-generation robotaxi solution, designed for a service life of up to 20,000 hours and capable of supporting freight mileage of up to 1 million kilometers.

The first two models will be built on battery electric vehicle (BEV) platforms. Designed for mass production at the thousand-unit scale, these vehicles are expected to begin deployment in 2026, Pony AI said.

The company said that once operational, the fourth-generation autonomous trucks are expected to significantly reduce freight costs and enhance logistics efficiency.

Based on current test scenarios, the "1+4" platooning solution -- comprising one human-driven lead truck and four driverless trucks -- is projected to reduce freight costs per kilometer by 29 percent and increase profit margin by 195 percent, Pony AI said.

Additionally, this solution is expected to cut per-vehicle carbon emissions by about 60 tons annually, the company said.

Pony AI entered the autonomous truck market in 2018 and has since expanded its fleet to about 200 trucks, accumulating over 1 billion ton-kilometers of freight mileage.

The company's primary business focuses on robotaxis for the ride-hailing market. It unveiled its seventh-generation robotaxi in April and began deploying them this month in cities including Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

This new-generation robotaxi is designed for a lifespan of 600,000 kilometers, with the total cost of its autonomous driving suite reduced by 70 percent compared to the previous generation, the company said earlier this month.

Pony AI operates over 720 robotaxis and aims to expand its fleet to 1,000 vehicles by year-end, it announced on November 5.

Pony AI said the autonomous driving suite for its seventh-generation robotaxi costs 70 percent less than the previous generation.
