Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will officially launch its extended-range X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in three days -- its first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) model.
The X9 EREV will hit the market on November 20, with an event kicking off at 7 pm that evening in Guangzhou, where Xpeng is headquartered, the company announced today.
Xpeng unveiled the seven-seat X9 EREV at a technology event on November 6 and commenced pre-sales for two variants.
The X9 EREV's 1602 Max variant starts at RMB 350,000 ($49,300) during pre-sales, while the 1602 Ultra variant is priced at RMB 370,000 -- lower than the starting price of the MPV's battery electric vehicle (BEV) counterpart.
As is customary, the official launch price in China is typically lower than the pre-sales price.
The X9 is Xpeng's highest-priced model. The BEV version currently offers four variants in China, starting at RMB 359,800, RMB 379,800, RMB 399,800, and RMB 419,800.
The X9 EREV marks Xpeng's first model equipped with the Kunpeng Super Electric System. The company filed for the EREV version of its G7 SUV in September and for EREV versions of the G6 SUV and P7+ sedan last month, with all expected to launch next year.
The model features a 63.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack from CALB, delivering a CLTC range of 452 kilometers.
It features a 60-liter fuel tank, achieving a combined range of 1,602 kilometers when fully fueled and charged.
Xpeng aims for the vehicle to operate solely on electricity in 90 percent of scenarios without activating the range extender by offering a high-capacity battery.
Built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture, the vehicle supports a 5C charging rate, enabling 313 kilometers of range to be charged in just 10 minutes.
The more affordable Max variant of the X9 EREV features a single in-house developed Turing AI chip with 750 TOPS computing power. The higher-end Ultra variant incorporates three Turing AI chips, delivering a combined 2250 TOPS.
