China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of vehicles awaiting sales approval for public comment, which includes Volkswagen Anhui's ID.UNYX 08 electric SUV.
Public feedback can be submitted between November 11-17. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a vehicle can be sold in China.
CnEVPost learned from a source that the model is the first jointly developed vehicle following Volkswagen and Xpeng's July 2023 partnership announcement.
The two companies would co-develop two Volkswagen-branded models based on Xpeng's G9 platform and its Connectivity and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) software, with production expected to commence in 2026, according to a statement at the time.
The ID.UNYX 08 measures 5,000 mm in length, 1,954 mm in width, and 1,688 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm.
These dimensions exceed those of the currently available Xpeng G9, which measures 4,891 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,998 mm.
The ID.UNYX 08 has a curb weight of 2,191/2,257/2,360 kilograms and supports a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
It has three pages in the filing catalog, with model codes VWA65012BEV1, VWA65012BEV2, and VWA65013BEV1. The first two are single-motor variants, while the third one is a dual-motor configuration.
The single-motor variant features a rear motor with a peak power output of 230 kW (308 horsepower), while the dual-motor variant adds a front motor with an additional peak power of 140 kW.
The vehicle is equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL (HKG: 3750), though capacity details remain undisclosed.
