Public feedback can be submitted between November 11 and 17. Inclusion in the catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a model can be permitted for sale in China.

Compared to the current Firefly EV, the primary change in this new variant is the adoption of a 120 kW (161 horsepower) peak power motor sourced from Nio's motor division, XPT.

For reference, the current model features a rear motor with 105 kW peak power and 200 Nm peak torque. Its specification sheet does not mention acceleration performance.

The new variant remains a 5-seat compact EV with dimensions of 4,003 mm in length, 1,781 mm in width, and 1,557 mm in height, and a 2,615 mm wheelbase -- identical to the current model.

Its curb weight is 1,492 kg, with a top speed of 150 km/h.

It continues to utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Sunwoda, the same as the current Firefly model.

Nio officially launched the Firefly brand at Nio Day 2024 on December 21, 2024, positioning it to compete with Mini and Smart. The brand's namesake debut model was launched in China on April 19.

The Firefly EV currently starts at RMB 119,800 ($16,830) in China.

Nio Inc delivered a record 40,397 vehicles in October, with the Firefly accounting for 5,912 units -- marking the sub-brand's third consecutive month of record-breaking sales.

Firefly is deepening its market penetration in Europe, North America, and Asia, it said, revealing for the first time its market expansion efforts will include North America.
