Shangjie, the new automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104), has achieved 10,000 deliveries of its H5 SUV (sport utility vehicle) just 43 days after its market launch.
Shangjie announced this milestone on Weibo today, highlighting that customers who order the model before December 1 can receive limited-time benefits worth up to RMB 43,588 ($6,120) and purchase tax subsidies of up to RMB 9,000.
Shangjie is the fifth automotive brand under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) umbrella, joining Seres Group's Aito, Chery's (HKG: 9973) Luxeed, BAIC Group's Stelato, and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group's (JAC) Maextro.
The brand launched the H5 SUV, its first model, on September 23 with a starting price of RMB 159,800, making it the most affordable vehicle under Huawei's HIMA initiative.
The Shangjie H5 is a mid-size SUV measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm.
It offers two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants starting at RMB 159,800 and RMB 179,800 respectively.
Four battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants are available, priced from RMB 165,800, RMB 179,800, RMB 185,800, and RMB 199,800.
Shortly after the launch event, HIMA announced that the Shangjie H5 secured over 10,000 firm orders within one hour.
Both SAIC and Huawei hold high expectations for the Shangjie H5. SAIC president Jia Jianxu said in April that the initial investment for Shangjie reached RMB 6 billion, utilizing SAIC's most mature production lines.
Late last month, local media outlet Leiphone reported that Shangjie's next two models would both be SUVs.
The report indicated that only the third model would be built on the dedicated platform developed jointly by SAIC and Huawei.
