IM Motors, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104), today began pre-sales of its LS9 large SUV (sport utility vehicle), introducing another extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) model with super long battery range to the Chinese market.
IM Motors offers two LS9 variants during presales -- the 52 Ultra and 66 Ultra -- priced starting at RMB 336,900 ($47,280) and RMB 366,900 respectively. Its official launch is scheduled for November 12.
The IM LS9 is a six-seat SUV measuring 5,279 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,806 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
It features SAIC's Hengxing extended-range system, utilizing a 1.5L engine as the range extender with a maximum power output of 114 kW.
It features dual electric motors: the front motor delivers a peak power of 160 kW, while the rear motor produces a peak power of 230 kW.
This powertrain delivers a combined peak power of 390 kW (523 horsepower) and a combined torque of 670 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds.
The IM LS9 utilizes CATL's (SHE: 300750) Freevoy Super Hybrid Battery, available in 52 kWh and 66 kWh options, delivering a CLTC range of up to 402 kilometers.
With a full tank and fully charged battery, its combined range reaches 1,508 kilometers.
The LS9 will also feature a 520-channel LiDAR sensor and four-wheel steering capability.
The model ranks among China's longest-range hybrid vehicles, as competition intensifies to address pure-electric range anxiety.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will debut the extended-range version of its X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in two days on November 6. It will feature a 63.3-kWh battery pack with a 450-kilometer electric range.
Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) debuted its flagship SUV D19 on October 16, with the EREV variant utilizing an 80.3-kWh battery pack delivering up to 500 kilometers of range.
On September 29, Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) launched the 9X luxury hybrid SUV, offering 55-kWh and 70-kWh battery pack options with CLTC ranges of 300 to 380 kilometers.
