Geely Auto (HKG: 0175) sub-brand Geely Galaxy will officially launch the Starshine 6 hybrid sedan on October 30, which is set to become one of the strongest players in China's affordable family sedan market.
The brand announced the date today on Weibo, hailing the Starshine 6 as a groundbreaking leader in electric hybrid family sedans.
Pre-sales for the Starshine 6 commenced on September 26, offering five variants with starting prices of RMB 85,800 ($12,040), RMB 93,800, RMB 99,800, RMB 107,800, and RMB 118,800.
The brand is offering a limited-time discount of RMB 6,000, effectively lowering the starting price range to RMB 79,800 ($11,200) to RMB 112,800.
The Starshine 6 is a mid-size hybrid sedan measuring 4,806 mm in length, 1,886 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,756 mm.
It will compete with affordable family sedans in China including BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Qin Plus and the L07 from Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625) unit Deepal.
The Starshine 6 features Geely's next-generation Leishen AI Hybrid 2.0 technology, comprising a 1.5L engine and electric motor.
The vehicle achieves a fuel consumption of just 2.8 L per 100 kilometers when running on low battery power, with a CLTC combined range of up to 1,700 kilometers, Geely Galaxy previously said.
Geely Galaxy has experienced robust growth over the past year, driven by the launch of multiple highly price-competitive models.
The brand sold a record 120,868 vehicles in September, marking a 131.06 percent year-on-year increase and a 9.22 percent rise from August.
This contributed to Geely Auto's record September sales of 273,125 units, reflecting a 35.24 percent year-on-year growth and a 9.18 percent increase from August.
