Xiaomi EV delivers record 41,948 cars in Sept

Xiaomi EV, the electric vehicle (EV) unit of Xiaomi (HKG: 1810), delivered 41,948 vehicles in September, marking its third consecutive month of record-breaking performance, according to data released yesterday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

This represents a 209.37 percent increase from the 13,559 units delivered in the same period last year and a 15.25 percent rise from August's 36,396 units.

Earlier this month, Xiaomi EV announced it had delivered over 40,000 vehicles in September without specifying the exact figure. The CPCA report released yesterday was the first to disclose the precise number.

Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 electric sedan on March 28, 2024, positioning it as a competitor to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.

On February 27, Xiaomi rolled out the SU7 Ultra, a performance-enhanced electric sedan based on the standard SU7 model.

On June 26, Xiaomi officially launched the YU7, its first electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) and a competitor to the Tesla Model Y.

Delivery figures for the SU7 series and YU7 are currently unavailable.

In the third quarter, Xiaomi EV delivered 108,796 vehicles, representing a 173.43 percent year-on-year increase and a 32.59 percent rise from the second quarter.
