Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has received strong orders for its new electric SUV model, the Li i6, securing over 20,000 firm orders within hours of its launch, local media outlet LatePost reported today.
For Li Auto, firm order holders can adjust vehicle configurations or request refunds within 7 days; deposits become non-refundable after 7 days, the report noted.
Li Auto launched the Li i6 about five hours ago, marking its second pure-electric SUV following the Li i8.
The model is offered in a single trim starting at RMB 249,800 ($35,010).
Display and test-drive vehicles for the Li i6 are now available at Li Auto stores, with deliveries set to begin tomorrow.
The model's launch has caused unexpected crowds at some Li Auto stores, according to LatePost.
Around 7:30 pm Beijing time on Friday, a sales manager at a Li Auto store in Shanghai said he was too busy to respond to WeChat messages, according to the report.
A Li Auto salesperson in Shenzhen anticipated that test drive activities at the store might continue until 11 pm or midnight, the report noted.
Li Auto is offering a limited-time package worth RMB 35,000 to customers purchasing the Li i6 by October 31. This includes a RMB 10,000 cash discount, an air suspension system valued at RMB 15,000, an in-car refrigerator worth RMB 5,000, and quiet electric doors valued at RMB 5,000.
The cash discount brings the Li i6's effective starting price down to RMB 239,800.
The Li i6 measures 4,950 mm in length, smaller than the six-seat Li i8. It offers single-motor and dual-motor configurations with a CLTC range of up to 720 kilometers.
