BYD (HKG: 1211) will roll out new variants for the second-generation Qin Plus in three days, as cumulative deliveries of the affordable sedan surpass 2.4 million units.
The company will launch the new variants on September 25, with a launch event starting at 7 pm that evening, it announced today.
A poster shared by BYD on Weibo indicates the Qin Plus has surpassed 2.4 million cumulative deliveries.
The Qin Plus was launched in March 2021, initially available only as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Its battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants were launched in August 2021.
The model is a compact sedan measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.
The current second-generation Qin Plus offers three PHEV variants starting at RMB 79,800 ($11,220), RMB 93,800, and RMB 103,800, alongside three BEV variants starting at RMB 109,800, RMB 119,800, and RMB 129,800.
The Qin family ranks among BYD's top-selling product lines, with 732,252 units sold in 2024, accounting for 17.14 percent of the company's annual new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The lineup sold 62,561 units in August, making it BYD's best-selling model. This represents an 11.21 percent year-on-year decrease but a 16.05 percent increase compared to July.
BYD sold 373,626 NEVs in August, marking a 0.15 percent year-on-year increase and an 8.52 percent rise from July.
