Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) will officially launch the Li i6 in 10 days, pinning hopes on its second pure-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) following the Li i8 to boost declining sales.
The Li i6's official launch is set for September 26, Li Auto announced today on Weibo, describing the model as a new form of five-seat SUV.
Measuring 4.95 meters long with a 3-meter wheelbase, it achieves the "magic of compact exterior and spacious interior," the company wrote on Weibo.
The Li i6 features a low-drag design for reduced energy consumption and extended range, Li Auto said.
The electric SUV's launch comes as Li Auto faces significant sales declines this year, following the lukewarm reception of its first electric SUV, the Li i8.
The company delivered 28,529 vehicles in August, a 40.72 percent year-on-year decrease, marking its third consecutive month of sharp declines, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
From January to August, Li Auto delivered 263,198 vehicles, down 8.64 percent year-on-year.
Li Auto will launch the Li i6 in September with a price range of about RMB 250,000 ($35,130) to RMB 300,000, the company said on September 1.
Li Auto aims to achieve stable monthly deliveries of 6,000 units for the Li i8 and 9,000-10,000 units for the Li i6 by year-end, founder, chairman, and CEO Li Xiang said on Weibo on September 1.
Including the Li Mega electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), Li Auto's overall battery electric vehicle (BEV) models will stabilize at 18,000-20,000 units monthly, Li said at the time.
The Li i6 measures 4,950 mm in length, 1,935 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, according to its regulatory filing.
The model offers single-motor and dual-motor options with a CLTC range of up to 720 kilometers.
"We aim to provide families considering the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, or Audi Q5 with an additional purchasing option," Li said in June.
