Great Wall Motor's (GWM) premium Wey brand has commenced pre-sales of the Gaoshan 7 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), the latest addition to the Gaoshan lineup.
Wey introduced the vehicle during an event last night, offering Standard and Welfare editions priced at RMB 289,800 ($40,700) and RMB 349,800 respectively.
The MPV received 3,756 pre-orders within an hour of the start of its pre-sales, Wey announced yesterday.
Positioned as a mid-to-large family MPV, the Gaoshan 7 features a 2+2+3 seating configuration. Its dimensions are 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm.
The hybrid MPV features a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5T engine with dual electric motors. The engine delivers a maximum power of 125 kW (168 hp) and peak torque of 245 Nm.
The powertrain produces a combined power output of 337 kW and total torque of 644 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The MPV is equipped with a 44.28-kWh ternary lithium battery, delivering a WLTC battery range of 172 kilometers. With a full tank of fuel and fully charged battery, its WLTC combined range reaches 945 kilometers.
The Gaoshan 7 comes standard with Hi4 intelligent electric all-wheel drive, a 128-channel LiDAR sensor, and the third-generation Coffee Pilot driver assistance system.
The model is based on the Gaoshan 8 MPV, which starts at RMB 309,800.
The Gaoshan series also includes the Gaoshan 9 MPV, priced from RMB 353,800.
GWM sold 115,558 vehicles in August, marking its highest monthly sales since January. This represents a 22.33 percent year-on-year increase and a 10.72 percent rise compared to July.
The Wey brand sold 8,028 units in August, surging 167.51 percent year-on-year but declining 20.08 percent month-on-month.
