- BEV sales in August rose 40.5 percent year-on-year, while PHEV sales grew 7.5 percent.
- NEV exports recorded year-on-year growth exceeding 100 percent for the fourth consecutive month.

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales maintained solid year-on-year growth last month as exports continued to remain robust.
In August, China's NEV sales reached 1.395 million units, marking a 26.8 percent year-on-year increase and a 10.54 percent rise from July, according to data released today by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
CAAM's NEV sales figures represent automakers' wholesale sales, including both domestic sales in China and exports to overseas markets. NEVs include battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and fuel cell vehicles.
NEV exports continued robust growth, surging 103.6 percent year-on-year in August to reach 224,000 units. This marks the fourth consecutive month of over 100 percent year-on-year growth for China's NEV exports.
Including exports, BEV sales continued to contribute the largest volume and grew significantly faster than PHEVs.
August BEV sales reached 908,000 units, up 40.5 percent year-on-year and 11.96 percent month-on-month.
PHEV sales in August reached 487,000 units, up 7.5 percent year-on-year and 7.98 percent month-on-month.
Total Chinese vehicle sales in August amounted to 2.857 million units, representing a 16.4 percent year-on-year increase and a 10.1 percent rise from July.
This indicates an August NEV penetration rate of 48.8 percent, surpassing both the 44.8 percent recorded in the same period last year and July's 48.7 percent.
After excluding exports, domestic NEV sales in August reached 1.171 million units, marking an 18.3 percent year-on-year increase and a 13 percent rise compared to July.
In August, 611,000 vehicles were exported from China, up 19.6 percent year-on-year and 6.2 percent month-on-month.
China exported 143,000 BEVs in August, a 63.4 percent increase year-on-year and 1.9 percent growth month-on-month.
PHEV exports reached 81,000 units in August, surging 270 percent year-on-year but declining 4.7 percent month-on-month.
