Changan Deepal names former Honor exec as CEO

Deepal has appointed Jiang Hairong, former China CMO of Honor, as CEO, while former CEO Deng Chenghao has assumed the role of chairman.

Deepal, the new energy vehicle (NEV) division of Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625), has appointed Jiang Hairong, former China CMO of smartphone manufacturer Honor, as CEO.

Deepal's former CEO Deng Chenghao has transitioned to chairman of the company, with his Weibo profile certification updated accordingly.

Deepal, Changan's NEV brand unveiled in 2022, officially launched its first model SL03 on July 25, 2022, positioning it as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3.

By the first half of this year, Deepal's cumulative sales exceeded 500,000 units.

Jiang joined Huawei in 2005 as a principal engineer in the mobile phone product division and moved to the Honor brand in 2014.

In 2021, following Honor's spin-off from Huawei, Jiang was appointed CMO of Honor China.

The updated Deepal L07 is available in BEV and EREV variants, with a starting guide price of RMB 145,900 ($20,350).
