BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang will officially launch the U8L on September 12 as its latest push in China's luxury SUV (sport utility vehicle) market.
The U8L launch event will commence at 7:30 pm Beijing time on September 12, Yangwang announced today.
The model is an extended-wheelbase version of Yangwang's first model, the U8 off-road SUV, measuring 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm.
The standard U8 measures 5,319 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,930 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm.
The U8L will feature a gold logo crafted from 24K real gold to underscore its premium status.
The six-seat SUV is built on BYD's e4 platform, powered by four electric motors delivering over 1,000 horsepower.
On April 23, the Yangwang U8L made its debut on the opening day of the Shanghai auto show.
In late July, Yangwang commenced pre-sales for the U8L, offering only one trim: the Dingshi Edition, priced at RMB 1.3 million ($182,030).
The U8, Yangwang's inaugural model, was launched on September 20, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 1.098 million.
On February 25, 2024, Yangwang rolled out the U9, a two-seat electric supercar starting at RMB 1.68 million.
On March 27 this year, the brand launched its third model, the U7 sedan, with a starting price of RMB 628,000.
