Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has begun offering the long-range battery pack as standard across its entire Nio brand lineup, bringing further price reductions following cuts earlier this month.
Effective immediately, Nio brand now features a standard 100-kWh long-range battery pack across all models, with starting prices unchanged from when they previously came with the 75-kWh standard-range pack, the company announced today on the first day of the 2025 Chengdu auto show.
The currently available Nio models include the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, EC6, ET7, and EC7. Previously, all models came standard with a 75-kWh standard-range battery pack, with customers able to pay extra to upgrade to the 100-kWh pack.
On August 19, Nio announced a RMB 20,000 ($2,810) reduction in the cost of the optional 100-kWh long-range battery pack for its main brand models, resulting in price cuts for all long-range variants.
Today's move further reduces the prices of all Nio models equipped with 100-kWh battery packs by RMB 38,000.
The entry-level Nio ET5 and ET5 Touring now start at RMB 298,000, down from RMB 336,000, a 11.31 percent price reduction.

Notably, there were signs preceding this latest move. The upcoming third-generation ES8 SUV (sport utility vehicle), to be launched at the end of next month, already comes standard with a 100-kWh battery pack.
Onvo has also made the 85-kWh long-range battery pack standard on its L90 SUV, rather than the 60-kWh pack used in the Nio sub-brand's first model L60.
The move is expected to enhance the appeal of Nio brand models and reduce complaints about their relatively range, especially as some competing models now offer CLTC ranges of 700-800 kilometers.
With the standard 100-kWh battery pack, all Nio models now achieve a CLTC range of about 700 kilometers, while the ET5 sedan reaches 740 kilometers.
