Changan Mazda, the joint venture between Changan Automobile and Mazda in China, announced today that its new model, the EZ-60 midsize SUV (sport utility vehicle), will be launched on September 26.
The EZ-60 will be offered in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, and is a strategic model developed by Mazda for global markets.
As Changan Mazda's first new energy SUV, the EZ-60 marks its second globally oriented model following the EZ-6 sedan.
The model debuted on the opening day of the Shanghai auto show on April 23 and began accepting pre-orders, though no pricing was mentioned.
The EZ-60 secured 10,060 pre-orders within its first 48 hours and reached 20,000 units by May 16, according to previously shared data from Changan Mazda.
As of August 27, pre-orders for the EZ-60 have surpassed 40,000 units, the brand stated.
Changan Mazda previously said that its Nanjing plant established a dedicated production line for the vehicle, investing nearly RMB 200 million ($28 million) solely in line upgrades.
The first batch of EZ-60 vehicles was shipped to Changan Mazda's over 100 dealerships across China on August 27.
