Onvo's flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) model, the L90, delivered over 4,000 units within 10 days of its launch, poised to set a new monthly delivery record for models under Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO).
The official Securities Times reported the figure today, stating that Nio Inc sold 6,089 units last week, ranking among the top five in China's weekly automotive sales.
The Onvo L90 has surged into the top two of the weekly sales rankings for large SUVs, surpassing the combined sales of Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L9 and Li L8, the report noted.
Currently, Nio's Onvo vehicle production plant in Hefei, Anhui province, is operating at full capacity, ramping up production and accelerating deliveries, the report said.
In the week prior to last week, the Onvo L90 saw deliveries reach 1,976 units within three days of its launch, ranking third in China's weekly large SUV sales chart, the report said.
The report did not specify, but weekly sales are apparently measured by insurance registrations.
Separately, according to a report by local automotive media outlet Yiche today, the Onvo L90 recorded 2,093 insurance registrations during the week of August 4-10.
Last week, the Onvo L90 ranked second in weekly sales of large SUVs, trailing Huawei-backed Aito M8's 3,690 units and surpassing the combined total of 1,215 units for the Li L8 and Li L90.
The Aito M8 was launched on April 16 and is currently available only in EREV variants. Its BEV variants are set for launch later this month. The Li L8 and Li L90 are both EREVs, with insurance registration volumes of 499 and 716 units, respectively, last week.
Onvo officially launched the all-electric L90 on July 31 and began deliveries of the SUV the following day on August 1.
The latest figures mean that the Onvo large SUV had 4,069 insurance registrations between August 1 and 10.
If Onvo maintains this delivery pace, the L90 is poised to break Nio Inc's record for the highest monthly sales of a single model.
To date, the ES6 SUV holds the record for the highest monthly delivery volume among Nio Inc models, with 11,118 units delivered in July 2023, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. This marks the only instance where a single Nio model has surpassed 10,000 monthly deliveries.
The L60, Onvo's first model launched in September 2024, delivered 10,528 units in December last year, making it the only other model under the Nio Inc umbrella to have ever seen monthly deliveries exceed 10,000 units.
Last week, local media outlet Yiou reported that Onvo president Shen Fei had told his team that L90 deliveries in August must exceed 10,000 units.
