Li Auto delivers 30,731 cars in Jul, down 40% year-on-year

Li Auto delivers 30,731 cars in Jul, down 40% year-on-year

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) saw a further sharp decline in deliveries last month, extending its weak performance into another month.

The company delivered 30,731 vehicles in July, down 39.74 percent year-on-year and down 15.29 percent month-on-month, according to data released today.

This marks the second consecutive month of year-on-year decline in monthly deliveries, bringing year-to-date deliveries below the same period last year.

In the first seven months of the year, Li Auto delivered 234,669 vehicles, down 2.21 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

As of the end of July, Li Auto had delivered a total of 1,368,541 vehicles since its inception.

Li Auto launched the Li i8, its first all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle), on July 29.

The six-seat model starts at RMB 321,800 ($44,610), with deliveries set to begin on August 20.

Li Auto's domestic peer Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) launched the L90 large electric SUV from its sub-brand Onvo yesterday, with deliveries beginning today.

The Onvo L90 starts at a lower price of RMB 265,800, including an 85-kWh battery pack.

Li Auto previously offered five models -- the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, Li L9, and Li Mega -- with the L series being extended-range SUVs and the Li Mega being a pure electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

The company did not disclose delivery volume breakdowns for its different models.

As of July 31, it operates 535 retail stores in 153 cities, 527 service centers in 222 cities, and Li Auto-authorized body and paint shops.

It now operates 3,028 supercharging stations in China, equipped with 16,671 charging stalls.

Li i8 faces many strong competitors in the BEV market, especially Onvo L90 and Tesla's six-seat Model Y L, which is set to be launched this fall.
