Changan Automobile (SHE: 000625) sub-brand Deepal has rolled out long-range variants of the S05 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in a bid to expand its potential customer base.
The three new variants all have a range of 620 kilometers, with starting prices of RMB 129,900 ($18,020), RMB 139,900, and RMB 149,900.
The compact SUV measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.
The S05 long-range variants are powered by a rear electric motor with a maximum power output of 200 kW, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.48 seconds.
All three long-range variants are equipped with a 68.82-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by CATL, with a charging time of 15 minutes from 30 percent to 80 percent.
Deepal is Changan's new energy vehicle (NEV) brand announced in 2022, and its first model, the SL03, was officially launched on July 25, 2022, positioning as a competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
In October 2024, the brand launched the S05, with a starting price of RMB 119,900, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.
The other four BEV variants all have a CLTC range of 510 kilometers, with starting prices of RMB 119,900, RMB 125,900, RMB 135,900, and RMB 145,900, respectively.
The two EREV variants have starting prices of RMB 135,900 and RMB 145,900, respectively.
Deepal delivered 27,169 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 62.48 percent but a month-on-month decrease of 9.11 percent.
The brand delivered 170,405 vehicles from January to July, marking a year-on-year increase of 69.42 percent.
