The Aito M8 EV -- the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the Aito M8 -- received over 15,000 pre-orders within 72 hours after pre-sales began, Richard Yu, Huawei's executive director and chairman of the consumer business group, said on Weibo today.
Over 40 percent of customers opted for the purple exterior color, Yu said.
The all-electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) will officially launch in August, he said, reiterating the previously mentioned timeline.
