Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has reached the milestone of delivering its 10,000th vehicle under its premium compact car brand Firefly, about three months after the launch of its only model to date.
Today, the 10,000th Firefly was officially delivered, the Nio sub-brand announced on its mobile app.
This means that Firefly has delivered 2,157 units so far this month, considering the cumulative deliveries of 7,843 units as of the end of June, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Deliveries of Firefly in Europe will begin soon, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li said today.
Nio officially launched the Firefly brand on December 21, 2024, at Nio Day 2024 to take on Mini and Smart. The brand's first model, named after the brand, was officially launched on April 19.
Firefly offers two trims, with starting prices of RMB 119,800 ($16,710) and RMB 125,800, including the battery pack.
The model did not initially offer a BaaS (battery as a service) purchase option, which became available on June 24, lowering the purchase threshold to RMB 79,800, but consumers need pay a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 399.
Firefly began deliveries on April 29 and delivered 231 units in the last two days of April, according to previously disclosed information from Nio.
In May and June, Firefly delivered 3,680 and 3,932 units, respectively.
Nio originally planned to launch Firefly in Europe first, but higher tariffs forced it to change its strategy and launch it in China first.
Last month, Firefly launched a 15-day road test in Europe in preparation for market entry.
On April 22, ahead of the 2025 Shanghai auto show, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said while responding to a question from CnEVPost during a media roundtable that Firefly would choose an appropriate time between June and August to launch in Europe.
By the end of this year, Firefly would enter about 20 overseas markets, with the right-hand drive version set to be ready by October at the latest, Qin said at the time.
