BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will launch the Sealion 06 SUV (sport utility vehicle) in three days, marking another addition to its Sealion family.
The Sealion 06 will officially hit the market on July 24, offering both a hybrid Sealion 06 DM-i and a fully electric Sealion 06 EV option, according to a report by local media outlet Auto Home today.
The Sealion 06 DM-i will utilize BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, while the EV model is based on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the report notes.
The entire lineup will come standard with BYD's God's Eye smart driving system and will also be equipped with the DiSus-C body control system, according to the report.
BYD unveiled its fifth-generation DM hybrid technology with lower fuel consumption and the more integrated e-Platform 3.0 Evo electric platform in May 2024. Its new models are primarily built on these two technologies.
The Sealion 06 was expected to be priced between RMB 160,000 ($22,300) and RMB 200,000, according to a report by Auto Home at the end of last month.
The model was listed in a regulatory catalog published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in April, showing its dimensions as 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
These dimensions are slightly larger than those of the Sealion 05 EV SUV, which measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The battery electric vehicle (BEV) version offers single-motor and dual-motor options. The single-motor version features a motor with peak power outputs of either 170 kW or 180 kW. The dual-motor version features front and rear motors with maximum power outputs of 110 kW and 180 kW, respectively.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) version is equipped with a 1,498 ml engine with a maximum power output of 74 kW. It also features a single motor with a peak power output of 160 kW.
The Sealion 06 EV will offer battery pack options with capacities of 65.28 kWh and 78.72 kWh, providing range options of 520 km, 550 km, and 605 km.
The Sealion 06 DM-i is equipped with a 18.3-kWh or 26.6-kWh battery pack, offering range options of 93 km and 130 km, respectively.
The Sealion family is one of BYD's best-selling, with a record 34,757 units sold in June, contributing 9.08 percent to BYD's total new energy vehicle (NEV) sales of 382,585 units, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
