Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business has announced the latest order numbers for the Maextro S800 luxury sedan, showcasing the strong performance of the top-of-the-line model under its umbrella.
To date, the Maextro S800 has received over 8,000 firm orders, just 50 days after its launch, HIMA announced today on its mobile app.
Maextro, the new automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), launched the S800 on May 30 to target the luxury car market.
The Maextro S800 offers battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options, as well as four-seat and five-seat versions.
It has two BEV variants, with the five-seat version starting at RMB 708,000 ($98,600) and the four-seat version at RMB 818,000.
The large sedan offers four EREV variants, with the two five-seat versions starting at RMB 708,000 and RMB 788,000, respectively, and the two four-seat versions starting at RMB 818,000 and RMB 1,018,000, respectively.
Leveraging Huawei's strong influence, the Maextro S800 has achieved solid initial acceptance. Here are the firm order figures for the model as announced by HIMA:
1,000 units in 1 hour; over 1,600 units in 24 hours; over 2,100 units in 48 hours; over 5,000 units in 19 days; and over 6,500 units in the first month.
Maextro is the highest-tier brand under the Huawei HIMA umbrella. Other brands under this business include BAIC Group's Stelato, Seres Group's Aito, Chery's Luxeed, and SAIC Motor's Shangjie.
The Maextro S800 measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm.
Notably, China announced yesterday that it expands the scope of luxury vehicle consumption tax to include lower-priced models and incorporate pure electric vehicles, effective July 20.
Luxury vehicles with a VAT tax-inclusive price exceeding RMB 1,017,000 will be subject to consumption tax, lower than the previous threshold of RMB 1,469,000.
This means that the highest-priced variant among the six variants of the Maextro S800 will be affected.
