Geely Auto's (HKG: 0175) sub-brand Geely Galaxy has introduced two new lower-priced variants for the A7 ahead of the official launch of the mid-to-large-sized hybrid sedan next month.
The two new variants include one with a battery range of 70 kilometers and another with a battery range of 150 kilometers, with pre-sales starting prices of RMB 97,800 ($13,620) and RMB 113,800, respectively.
This reduces the pre-sales starting price of the Geely Galaxy A7 by RMB 6,000, or 5.78 percent, compared to the previously available models priced from RMB 103,800.
The two new variants are equipped with basic driver-assistance systems, while all previously announced variants feature the G-Pilot smart driving system, Geely Galaxy said today.
The specifications table shows that the two new variants have removed the in-car facial recognition function, and the number of cameras and radar sensors has been reduced.
G-Pilot was launched by Geely on March 3 and includes five smart driving solutions -- G-Pilot H1, G-Pilot H3, G-Pilot H5, G-Pilot H7, and G-Pilot H9 -- similar to BYD's God's Eye smart driving system.
The Geely Galaxy A7 is equipped with the G-Pilot H3 smart driving solution, supporting urban commuting navigation driving assistance and highway navigation assistance driving functions.
The Geely Galaxy began pre-sales of the A7 on July 11, offering five variants with starting prices of RMB 103,800, 113,800, 119,800, 125,800, and 133,800 respectively.
It is the first plug-in hybrid sedan built on Geely's GEA architecture (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture), with dimensions of 4,918 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,845 mm.
The battery pack offers two options: an 8.5 kWh battery from CALB and an 18.4 kWh battery from CALT, providing 70 km and 150 km of battery range, respectively.
When fully fueled and charged, the vehicle's combined range reaches up to 2,100 kilometers.
Geely Galaxy has not yet announced the official launch date for the A7, but the brand's public relations director, Shan Aifu, said on Weibo on July 14 that the official launch will take place in August.
The first batch of vehicles for test drives has been largely shipped out, and users can now visit dealerships to experience the model, Shan said.
In a research note on July 15, Deutsche Bank analyst Wang Bin's team estimated the final official starting price of the A7 to be around RMB 90,000, RMB 14,000 lower than the initially announced pre-sales price, and comparable to the latest official discounted prices of its direct competitors, the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedans.
The team expected the A7's monthly sales to exceed 10,000 units, given the strong sales performance of the BYD Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i.
