The pickup truck was initially launched in Mexico in May 2024 under the name BYD Shark. The model is not available in the Chinese market and has been renamed Shark 6 in multiple overseas markets.

In addition to the Atto 3 and Shark 6, BYD offers the Sealion 6, Sealion 7, Seal, and Dolphin in Australia. The Sealion 6 is known as the Song Plus DM-i in China, while the Sealion 7 is the Sealion 07.

BYD was the top-selling Chinese automaker in Australia in June, followed by Great Wall Motor (SHA: 601633) with 5,464 units and SAIC with 3,896 units, according to data from market research firm Marklines.

In the first half of this year, Chinese brands accounted for 14.2 percent of the Australian automotive market. In the local NEV market, BYD held the largest share at 38.7 percent, according to Marklines.

BYD's prices in overseas markets are relatively stable, which is beneficial to the company's profitability, said Wang Chuanfu.
