BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has announced that its intelligent parking feature has achieved L4 capabilities and has committed to taking full responsibility for any losses incurred by users in China as a result of using this feature.

The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced this commitment on Weibo today, applicable to all models equipped with its God's Eye intelligent driving system, demonstrating its confidence in its autonomous parking capabilities.

The L4 mentioned by BYD is based on internationally recognized standards, referring to scenarios where no human driver intervention is required under specific conditions, with liability for accidents borne by the automaker.

Regarding smart driving, key scenarios include urban navigation-assisted driving, highway navigation-assisted driving, and intelligent parking.

BYD has achieved a breakthrough in intelligent parking, becoming the first globally to achieve L4 intelligent parking capabilities, it announced today.

"In the Chinese market, we assume full responsibility for the safety and losses of all users of vehicles equipped with God's Eye in intelligent parking scenarios," the company pledged.

This means that if an accident occurs while using the intelligent parking function of the God's Eye system, users can directly contact BYD's after-sales service for resolution without initiating an insurance claims process, according to BYD.

The greatest benefit for users is that it does not affect next year's insurance premiums, which will not increase as a result, the company said.

BYD's move demonstrates both its absolute technical confidence in God's Eye and its commitment to taking full responsibility for consumers, it said.

The company's confidence stems from its ownership of China's largest smart driving vehicle cloud database, the world's largest team of smart driving R&D engineers, and the world's largest NEV production system, it said.

Additionally, the number of vehicles equipped with the God's Eye system has exceeded 1 million, BYD emphasized.

BYD also announced that it will launch the largest-scale OTA (over-the-air) update for the God's Eye system, covering over a dozen functions involving parking, driving, and safety.

This move makes BYD the first automaker in China to commit to full responsibility for any potential losses resulting from the operation of intelligent vehicle functions.

In late April, Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) announced it would compensate users for potential accidents encountered while using NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot), though owners must purchase a paid service.

The service costs RMB 239 ($33) and covers all smart driving scenarios, with a maximum payout of RMB 1 million. Accidents occurring within five seconds of NGP disengagement are also included.

BYD's models equipped with the God's Eye systems have surpassed 1 million in total sales, and the company is set to release its largest-scale smart driving software update.
