Another car carrier for BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) is nearing operational deployment, as the company's fleet has seen more new additions in recent days.
The BYD Zhengzhou roll-on/roll-off ship began sea trials on June 23, car blogger @源之头2018, who has been closely following BYD, said on Weibo today.
The cargo ship is BYD's seventh, capable of carrying 7,000 vehicles, and is expected to be delivered to BYD next month, according to the blogger.
BYD Zhengzhou departed from Guangzhou Port at 9:06 am on June 23 to begin its sea trials, according to a screenshot shared by the blogger showing information about the vessel.
BYD Zhengzhou is named after Zhengzhou, a city in central China's Henan province, which houses one of BYD's largest vehicle manufacturing bases.
No further details about BYD Zhengzhou are currently available.
On June 21, the BYD Xi'an car carrier, with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, was delivered to BYD and began its maiden voyage.
Earlier today, BYD said that about 7,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) are being loaded onto the BYD Xi'an car carrier, which will be shipped to countries including the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
Also today, the BYD Changsha, with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, set sail, officially joining BYD's fleet as its sixth car carrier.
