- BYD's sixth car carrier, BYD Changsha, set sail today, just days after BYD Xi'an entered service.
- The BYD Changsha is the third car carrier with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles after the BYD Shenzhen and BYD Xi'an.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has put its new car carrier, the BYD Changsha, into operation, just days after the company's fifth car carrier set sail.
The BYD Changsha set sail today, marking the official addition of the company's sixth car carrier to its fleet, BYD said on Weibo today.
Three days ago, the BYD Xi'an was delivered to BYD on June 21 and began its maiden voyage.
Earlier today, BYD said that about 7,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) are being loaded onto the BYD Xi'an car carrier, which will transport them to countries including the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
BYD Changsha is BYD's third roll-on/roll-off ship with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles after the BYD Shenzhen and BYD Xi'an car carriers.
The car carrier is named after BYD's production base in Changsha, Hunan province, and entered the trial phase alongside BYD Xi'an at the beginning of this month.
The other three cargo ships in the BYD fleet are the BYD Explorer No. 1, BYD Hefei, and BYD Changzhou. Except for the BYD Explorer No. 1, the other BYD ships are named after the cities where its automobile production bases are located.
To date, these ships have transported more than 70,000 BYD NEVs to destinations around the world, according to the company.
The deployment of more car carriers comes as BYD intensifies its efforts to expand in overseas markets.
In May, BYD sold 89,047 vehicles overseas, marking the sixth consecutive month of record-breaking sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
This represents a year-on-year increase of 137.46 percent, contributing 23.28 percent to BYD's monthly NEV sales of 382,476 units.
BYD's overseas sales in May reached about 90,000 units, and this year's figures are expected to be very strong, Wang Chuanfu, the company's chairman and president, said at the 2024 annual general meeting held on June 6.
BYD's prices in overseas markets are relatively stable, which significantly contributes to the company's profitability, he said.
Wang expected BYD's overseas sales to increase month-on-month, with signs of this trend already emerging in multiple overseas markets.
BYD's future capital expenditures would prioritize localization efforts in overseas markets to capitalize on the "golden period" of NEVs replacing internal combustion engine vehicles, he said.
