BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has entered the Cyprus passenger vehicle market as the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker continues to expand in Europe.

The company officially entered Cyprus on May 28 and launched four NEV models, according to an announcement yesterday.

The four models include the electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) Yuan Plus and Sealion 07 EV, the electric sedan Seal, and the hybrid SUV Song Plus DM-i.

The Yuan Plus has been renamed Atto 3 locally, the Sealion 07 has been renamed Sealion 7, and the Song Plus DM-i has been renamed Seal U DM-i.

The Atto 3 is available in Cyprus in two variants, with starting prices of 33,990 euros (38,630 $) and 35,990 euros.

The Seal is available in two variants, with starting prices of 45,990 euros and 48,990 euros.

The Sealion 7 is available in three variants, with starting prices of 49,990 euros, 52,990 euros, and 56,490 euros.

The Seal U DM-i is available in three variants, with starting prices of 35,990 euros, 37,990 euros, and 42,990 euros.

BYD expands into Cyprus, launching 4 models

BYD officially entered the European passenger vehicle market in September 2022 and has since become one of the major NEV players there.

BYD registered 7,231 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in Europe in April, surpassing Tesla for the first time, which registered 7,165 units, according to a report by market research firm Jato Dynamics at the end of last month.

The company sold 382,476 vehicles in May, representing a year-on-year increase of 15.27 percent and a month-on-month increase of 0.63 percent.

BYD sold 89,047 NEVs overseas in May, marking the sixth consecutive month of record-breaking sales. This represents a year-on-year increase of 137.46 percent and a month-on-month increase of 12.60 percent.
