Retail sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China amounted to 726,000 units in May 1-25, up 31 percent from a year earlier and up 11 percent from a month earlier, data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 4.05 million units, up 35 percent from the same period last year.
Wholesale sales of passenger NEVs from May 1-25 were 753,000 units, up 26 percent from the same period last year and flat from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.
Cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs so far this year were 4.734 million units, up 39 percent from a year earlier.
From May 1-25, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 1.358 million units, up 16 percent compared with the same period last year and up 9 percent from the same period last month.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 8.23 million units, up 9 percent year-on-year.
This means that China's NEV penetration at retail was 53.5 percent from May 1-25 and 49.2 percent year-to-date.
In the first week of May -- May 1-5, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 41,659, down 11 percent year-on-year but up 19 percent from the same period last month.
In the second week of May -- May 6-11, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 60,896, up 30 percent year-on-year and up 44 percent from the same period last month.
In the third week of May -- May 12-18, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 51,175, up 14 percent year-on-year and flat from the same period last month.
In the fourth week of May -- May 19-25, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 60,823, up 26 percent year-on-year but down 8 percent from the same period last month.
During May 1-25, China's wholesale sales of all passenger vehicles were 1,389,000 units, up 17 percent from a year earlier but 1 percent lower than the same period last month.
During May 1-5, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 34,604, up 3 percent from a year earlier but down 2 percent from a month earlier.
During May 6-11, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 48,492, up 44 percent year-on-year, but down 2 percent in the same period last month.
During May 12-18, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 56,286, up 11 percent year-on-year but down 2 percent in the same period last month.
During May 19-25, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 75,923, up 14 percent year-on-year, and flat compared with the same period last month.
So far this year, China's wholesale passenger car sales are 9,858,000 units, up 12 percent compared to the same period last year.
