Xiaomi EV continues to market the YU7 SUV (sport utility vehicle), with its second model set to be officially unveiled tomorrow.
"Xiaomi YU7 is positioned as a luxury performance SUV," Xiaomi EV wrote on Weibo today.
The model comes for the luxury experience, for advanced technology and aims to create an advanced SUV for this era, it said.
"Xiaomi YU7 , see you on May 22 at 7 pm," Xiaomi EV wrote.
Lei Jun, Xiaomi's founder, chairman and CEO, said in a Weibo post today that China's SUV market is highly competitive with many strong players.
"But I believe the YU7 has an irreplaceable and unique appeal," Lei wrote.
He said that the YU7 is positioned as a luxury performance SUV that shares the same family design language as the SU7 electric sedan.
"At the same time, the YU7 has extremely distinctive features. It has both elegant styling and high performance, but also offers a sense of luxury and spatial comfort, along with advanced smart technologies," Lei said.
Those who love to drive and want a large space and advanced luxury experience will especially love the YU7, he said.
" Xiaomi YU7 is our advanced SUV built with care and attention for the advanced elite of our time," Lei wrote.
Xiaomi announced on Monday that the Xiaomi YU7 will be unveiled at Xiaomi's strategic new product launch event on May 22, starting at 7 pm Beijing time.
The YU7 is Xiaomi's second model and has the potential to reshape the electric SUV market in China, considering the smartphone maker's strong influence in the country.
Xiaomi officially launched its first model, the SU7, on March 28, 2024, and the electric sedan is a Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 competitor.
The YU7 will be a competitor to the Model Y, the Tesla model that is one of the most popular SUVs in China, delivering 101,873 vehicles in the country from January to April, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Tesla launched the revamped Model Y in China on January 10, with a WeChat post titled "Updated Model Y, (you can) compare anyway," suggesting that other models would be no match for the crossover.
Lei later shared a screenshot of a portion of the post on Weibo, writing "OK," suggesting that the YU7 will compete head-to-head with the Model Y.
