- Li Auto will launch a new Home variant for the Li Mega MPV, which is expected to be priced lower.
- Deliveries of both variants, Li Mega Ultra and Li Mega Home, will begin in May.

Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) will officially launch the updated Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on the first day of the Shanghai auto show, after starting pre-sales last month.
The updated Li Mega Ultra will officially go on sale on April 23 at the same starting price as the pre-sales price, which is RMB 529,800 ($72,350), Li Auto announced today on Weibo.
In addition to the Ultra variant, Li Auto will also launch a new Home variant for the Li Mega at that time.
"The Li Mega Home family special edition carries our latest thinking on the scenario of cars for large families," Li Auto wrote on Weibo.
Deliveries of both variants will begin in May, the company said.
Li Auto is accepting bookings for the Li Mega Home variant from today, but has not released pricing information.
Li Auto's website lists the Li Mega Home above the Li Mega Ultra, hinting at a lower price for the new variant.
Deliveries of the Li Mega Home are expected to begin by the end of May, and deliveries of the Li Mega Ultra are expected to begin in mid-May, information on the company's website indicates.
The Li Mega, Li Auto's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, was launched on March 1, 2024, when it was priced at a starting price of RMB 559,800 yuan.
Less than 2 months after the model's launch, the price was slashed by RMB 30,000 to RMB 529,800 yuan.
The Li Mega has been available in only one variant since its launch, initially known as the Max.
On March 12, 2024, Li Auto tweaked its model nomenclature, with the Li Mega Max being changed to the Li Mega Ultra at that time.
Updates to the Li Mega will mainly lie in the smart driving hardware, with the smart driving chip being upgraded from the previous two Nvidia Orin-X chips to a single Thor-U chip, the company previously said.
The updated Li Mega will support Li Auto's next-generation autonomous driving architecture, MindVLA, Li Auto said.
Li Auto's other on-sale models are all extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) -- the Li L9, Li L8, Li L7, Li L6 -- and these SUVs (sport utility vehicle) will also receive the smart driving updates in May.
In 2024, 10,798 units of the Li Mega were delivered, contributing 2.16 percent of the 500,508 Li Auto deliveries for the year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first quarter of this year, the Li Mega delivered 2,404 units, contributing 2.59 percent of Li Auto deliveries in the same period.
