- The 2025 X9 has a pre-sales starting price of RMB 399,800 ($54,500), up 11.12 percent from its predecessor.
- The model is set to be officially launched next week, and show cars are already available at more than 500 stores.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) today unveiled the 2025 X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) and began its pre-sales, bringing upgraded features but a higher price.
The 2025 X9 has a pre-sales starting price of RMB 399,800 ($54,500) yuan, up RMB 40,000, or 11.12 percent, from its predecessor's RMB 359,800 starting price.
It's worth noting that the higher pre-sales price could be part of a marketing effort to pave the way for a price cut at the official launch.
The model will be officially launched next week, and customers who pay a RMB 2,000 intent deposit before then can get a RMB 5,000 reduction when they pay the final purchase price.
The MPV's show cars are already available at Xpeng's more than 500 stores in 214 Chinese cities.
The 2025 X9 brings hardware upgrades worth up to RMB 80,000 to give the model a comfort boost, according to Xpeng.
The company said the updated X9 has as many as 496 upgrades, with 35 percent design and component updates.
Built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform, the updated X9 has a range of up to 740 km and consumes as low as 16.2 kWh of energy per 100 km, according to Xpeng.
The vehicle has a length, width, and height of 5,293 mm, 1,988 mm, and 1,785 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
It supports rear-wheel steering and has a turning radius as low as 5.4 meters for added driving agility.
The MPV continues to be offered with a choice of single-motor and dual-motor models, with the single-motor version having an electric motor up to 235 kW, and the dual-motor version having an additional electric motor with a peak power of 135 kW.
The updated X9, which does away with the LiDAR that its predecessor carried, is the latest Xpeng model to move to a purely vision smart driving solution.
It comes with the free Turing AI smart driving system, the same as the updated G6 and G9 SUVs (sport utility vehicles) launched last month.
Xpeng initially launched X9 on January 1, 2024 and the MPV is its flagship model under its SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 2.0 architecture and its highest-priced.
The X9 delivered 21,653 units in 2024, contributing 11.39 percent of Xpeng's annual deliveries of 190,068, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The X9 update is expected to help Xpeng improve gross margins, as its strong sales in the past few months have relied heavily on the Mona M03.
The Mona M03 affordable sedan saw monthly deliveries of more than 15,000 units in each of the months of December through February, or about 50 percent of Xpeng's monthly deliveries.
Xpeng delivered 33,205 vehicles in March, its fifth consecutive month of more than 30,000 units, according to data it released on April 1, without mentioning breakdown figures for different models.
