In the first quarter, wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China were estimated at 2.86 million units, up 43 percent year-on-year, the CPCA said.

In February, manufacturers with passenger NEV wholesale sales of more than 10,000 units contributed 91.6 percent of all NEV wholesale sales in the month, the CPCA said.

The estimated sales of these carmakers in March are 1 million units, and based on last month's structure, China's March wholesale sales of passenger NEVs will be at 1.14 million units, the CPCA said.

In China, NEVs include battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fuel cell vehicles. Their exact numbers are expected to be announced later this month.

After the Chinese New Year holiday, industries quickly shifted to normal operations, and China gradually entered a normal consumption period in March, the CPCA said.

This year's Chinese New Year holiday was from January 28 to February 4, a holiday that typically causes significant disruptions to industrial production and consumption.

Many provinces and cities introduced policies to boost consumption, while offline activities, including auto shows, were in full swing, and the auto market trended well in March, the CPCA said.
