BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) yesterday reported new energy vehicle (NEV) sales for March, and later released breakdown figures showing how different models and sub-brands performed.

The Song family continued to be the top selling BYD model with 96,087 vehicles sold in March.

This is a 22.42 percent increase year-on-year and a 7.18 percent increase from February.

Song family models on sale include the Song L EV, Song L DM-i, and Song Pro DM-i of the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i of the Ocean series.

BYD's Dynasty series of Song models sold 44,586 units in March, up 20.76 percent year-on-year and up 12.46 percent from February.

Its Ocean series of Song models sold 51,501 units in March, up 23.89 percent year-on-year and up 2.99 percent from February.

The Qin family of models sold 58,383 units in March, the second-highest selling BYD model, which was up 43.91 percent year-on-year and up 37.59 percent from February.

BYD Seal sold 44,563 units in March and was the third highest selling BYD model, which was up 231.50 percent year-on-year and up 27.99 percent from February.

BYD Yuan family sold 40,851 units in March, up 24.52 percent year-on-year and up 39.37 percent from February.

BYD Seagull sold 35,532 units in March, up 2.02 percent year-on-year but 13.81 percent lower than in February.

BYD Sealion sold 18,125 units in March, up 41.12 percent from 12,844 in February.

BYD Dolphin sold 15,814 units in March, down 24.87 percent while up 90.44 percent from February.

BYD Han sold 15,385 units in March, down 23.12 percent year-on-year and down 12.73 percent from February.

BYD Tang sold 10,411 units in March, down 26.05 percent year-on-year while up 3.33 percent from February.

BYD Xia sold 7,006 units in March, down 36.18 percent from February.

BYD Chaser 05 sold 5,420 units in March, down 81.29 percent year-on-year but up 24.80 percent from February.

BYD e2 sold 519 units in March, down 60.08 percent year-on-year and down 38.94 percent from February.

The BYD brand of passenger cars, which includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 348,096 units in March, up 21.41 percent year-on-year and up 15.09 percent from February.

The Dynasty series sold 176,622 units in March, up 22.32 percent year-on-year and up 17.69 percent from February.

The Ocean series sold 171,474 vehicles in March, up 20.48 percent year-on-year and up 12.53 percent from February.

BYD's premium Denza brand sold 12,620 units in March, up 22.77 percent year-on-year and up 48.24 percent from February.

Denza sales in March included 9,326 units of the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), 1,335 units of the Z9 series, 1,708 units of the N9 and 251 units of the N7.

BYD's personalized sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, sold 8,051 vehicles in March, up 126.79 percent year-on-year and up 62.91 percent from February.

This included 6,036 units of the Bao 5, and 2,015 units of the Bao 8.

BYD's ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang sold 133 vehicles in March, down 87.80 percent year-on-year but up 26.67 percent from February.

The Yangwang U8 SUV (sport utility vehicle) sold 127 units in March and the U9 electric supercar sold six units.

BYD sold a record 72,723 vehicles overseas in March, an increase of 89.22 percent year-on-year and up 8.50 percent from February.
