Huawei and Shanghai-based SAIC Motor (SHA: 600104) will officially announce their joint brand Shangjie (尚界 in Chinese,) on April 10, local media Cailian reported today, citing industry sources.

Shangjie will be the fifth brand under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business, and more information about the brand and its products is expected to be released at next month's launch, the report said.

On February 21, SAIC announced that it had signed an agreement with Huawei to jointly create globally competitive intelligent vehicle products.

Shangjie's first model would be based on a model internally codenamed ES39 from SAIC's sub-brand Roewe, and it is likely to use SAIC's extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) solution for the powertrain, according to Cailian.

The model will be officially launched within this year, the report quoted an industry source close to Huawei as saying.

On February 17, another local media outlet, Yicai, reported that Shangjie's first model would have a starting price of about RMB 150,000 yuan ($20,660), making it the cheapest model under the HIMA umbrella.

All models of the new brand will be sold through HIMA channels, according to Yicai.

Under the HIMA business, Huawei and local car companies have already jointly created four new brands -- Aito from Seres Group, Luxeed from Chery, Stelato from BAIC Group, and Maextro from Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).

The business currently has six models on sale -- Aito M5, Aito M7, Aito M9, Luxeed S7, Luxeed R7, and Stelato S9.

On February 11, 36kr reported that Huawei's cooperation with SAIC was advancing rapidly, with Huawei's team already sending personnel to participate in the project, and SAIC had also assembled a team of hundreds of people.

Huawei will leverage its product and marketing experience to remake the product, and the new model is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2025, 36kr reported.
