Other models, including the Dolphin hatchback, will arrive in Serbia in due course, BYD said.
"At BYD, our mission is to make our sustainable technologies as accessible to as many consumers as possible, so every new market in Europe is extremely important to us," the company's executive vice president Stella Li said.
BYD's first store in Serbia is located on Bulevar Milutina Milankovića in the capital Belgrade, according to the company.
BYD expects to add three more sales and service centers in Serbia by the end of the year.
The Atto 2's compact size and excellent maneuverability will appeal to buyers who want an urban vehicle without sacrificing technology or functionality, BYD said.
And for consumers who want a larger model, BYD has launched the larger Atto 3 in Serbia.
BYD also highlighted its current European flagship, the Sealion 7 SUV, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and has a range of up to 502 km thanks to its blade battery.
BYD sold 623,384 NEVs in the first two months of the year, with overseas markets contributing 133,361 units, or 21.39 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
