-backed Aito has officially launched the 2025 M9 SUV (sport utility vehicle), equipped with four LiDARs to support stronger smart driving capabilities and safety.

The updated Aito M9 was rolled out at a Huawei product launch today and is offered in seven options with a starting price range of RMB 469,800 ($64,860) to RMB 569,800.

This is lower than the RMB 478,000 when it went on pre-sales on March 6, but the same as its predecessor.

The 2025 M9 is offered in both 5- and 6-seat options, as well as battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.

The SUV measures 5,230 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,800 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm, as with its predecessor.

The updated Aito M9 adds three additional LiDARs, including two on the sides and one at the rear, in addition to the one on the roof.

Huawei said that the additional LiDARs help the vehicle recognize low obstacles and objects that the roof-mounted LiDAR cannot.

The updated Aito M9 is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 3.3, which has the capability of smart driving from parking space to parking space.

Huawei plans to upgrade the driver assistance system of the M9 series to Qiankun ADS 4 in the third quarter.

The updated M9 EREV variants come standard with a 52-kWh ternary lithium battery pack, with a battery range of 266 km and 290 km options. When fully charged, it has a combined range of up to 1,474 km.

The M9 BEV comes with a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery as standard, with range options of 605 km and 630 km.

The EREV variants have a front motor with a maximum power of 165 kW and a rear motor with a maximum power of 200 kW. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 or 5.1 seconds.

The BEV versions all have a front motor with a maximum power of 160 kW and a rear motor with a maximum power of 230 kW. They can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 or 5.7 seconds.

The M9 was initially launched on December 26, 2023, as the third model after the M5 and M7 of Aito, a new brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres Group.

The SUV was initially only available in six-seat versions, and Aito launched five-seat variants on September 10, 2024, to expand the potential user base.

To date, more than 170,000 Aito M9s have been delivered, Richard Yu, managing director of Huawei and chairman of the intelligent vehicle solutions business unit, said at today's launch event.
