Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business today announced that the Aito M5 Ultra SUV (sport utility vehicle) will be launched on March 20.
Huawei will hold a launch event for the Huawei Pura series of smartphones and new HIMA products on March 20 starting at 2:30 pm Beijing time.
On March 1, Aito began accepting pre-orders for the M5 Ultra at a starting price of RMB 238,000 yuan ($32,900).
Those who pre-order the model can pay RMB 2,000, which will result in a RMB 5,000 reduction on the final payment.
Richard Yu, Huawei's managing director and chairman of the smart car solutions business unit, said in a video at the time that the M5 Ultra would come standard with Huawei's smart driving system.
Aito is a premium new energy-vehicle (NEV) brand jointly launched by Huawei and Seres Group on December 2, 2021, and is the first vehicle brand under the HIMA business.
The M5 is Aito's first model, which was initially launched on December 23, 2021. Aito's other models currently on sale include the M7 and M9.
The Aito M7 is available only in the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant, while both the Aito M5 and Aito M9 are available in both EREV and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.
Last April 23, Aito launched the updated M5 with three options, including two EREV variants and one BEV variant.
The current starting prices for the three variants of the Aito M5 are RMB 249,800, RMB 279,800 and RMB 269,800 respectively.
